This Privacy Policy explains how The Visionary Platform Ltd (“Stride”, “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data when you use the Stride application and related services (the “Service”). We are the data controller for that personal data.
We are based in the United Kingdom and process personal data in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
If you have any questions, contact us at support@strideapp.co.uk.
1. Who this applies to
This policy applies to everyone who uses Stride — horse owners, riders, trainers, vets, farriers, stable managers and anyone who creates an account or interacts with the Service.
2. The information we collect
2.1 Information you give us
- Account & profile: email address, password (stored hashed by our auth provider — we never see it), display name, optional phone number, and your selected role(s) (e.g. owner, rider, trainer, vet, farrier, stable manager).
- Horse information: horse name, breed, discipline, date of birth and similar details you add.
- Records you log: rides, competition results, recovery samples, vet and health records, notes, and other entries.
- Photos and videos: images and video clips you capture or upload for the Vision and Gait Analysis features.
- Support communications: anything you send us (e.g. via the “Report a
problem” feature, which emails
support@strideapp.co.uk).
2.2 Information created by using the Service
- Computed analytics: the “Genome”, intelligence scores, gait movement-symmetry metrics, pattern insights and similar values are computed from the data you log. They are derived, not separately collected.
- AI interactions: the questions you ask HorseGPT / Coach and the content you submit to Vision and Gait Analysis (see Section 4).
2.3 Information collected automatically
- Location / GPS: if you use ride-tracking features, we process location data to record routes, distance and speed. You can disable location access in your device settings.
- Device & usage data: app version, device type/OS, language, and diagnostic/error information (for stability and improvement). Our analytics are currently limited and event-based; we do not build advertising profiles.
- Local storage: we store preferences (theme, units, language) on your device. The web app uses essential local/session storage to function; we do not use third-party advertising cookies.
We do not intentionally collect special-category data about you, and we do not sell your personal data.
Horse data and you. Information about a horse is generally data about an animal rather than a person. However, where horse information is linked to an identifiable user (for example, you as its owner), it may constitute your personal data, and we treat it as such under this policy.
3. How we use your information and our legal bases
| Purpose | Legal basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Create and operate your account; provide the core features | Performance of a contract |
| Compute the Genome, scores, gait metrics and insights from your data | Performance of a contract / legitimate interests |
| Provide AI features (HorseGPT, Coach, Vision, Gait) | Performance of a contract / consent where required |
| Send service emails (sign-up confirmation, password reset, important notices) | Performance of a contract / legitimate interests |
| Process location for ride tracking | Consent (device permission) |
| Keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, debug and improve | Legitimate interests |
| Handle subscriptions and payments | Performance of a contract / legal obligation |
| Respond to your support requests | Legitimate interests |
| Comply with legal obligations | Legal obligation |
Where we rely on consent (e.g. location), you can withdraw it at any time.
4. AI features and how your data is processed
Stride’s AI features (HorseGPT, Stride Coach, Stride Vision, and Gait Analysis) work by sending the relevant inputs to AI providers that run the models on our behalf:
- Text features (HorseGPT, Coach) send your question plus a context summary built from your horse’s logged data to Google (Gemini) and/or Groq.
- Vision sends the photo you submit to those providers for analysis.
- Gait Analysis sends a short video clip to a pose-estimation model (when enabled) to compute movement-symmetry metrics.
These providers process the data only to provide the functionality you request and act as our processors/sub-processors. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your private uploads or content to train our own — or any public — AI models unless we explicitly tell you and obtain your consent.
Important — not veterinary or medical advice. Stride’s AI outputs are observations and computed metrics, not a veterinary diagnosis. They may be incomplete or wrong. Always consult a qualified veterinary professional for any clinical decision about an animal’s health.
We never fabricate population-level comparisons (e.g. rarity/percentiles) from a single horse — these are shown as unavailable until a genuine opted-in dataset exists.
5. Sharing your information
We share personal data only with service providers (“processors”) who help us run Stride, and only as needed:
| Provider | Purpose | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, file storage, serverless functions | Hosting region per project config |
| Google (Gemini) | AI text & image analysis | US / global |
| Groq | AI text inference (fallback) | US |
| Resend (via Amazon SES) | Sending service emails from noreply@strideapp.co.uk | EU/US |
| Cloudflare | DNS, email routing for support@strideapp.co.uk | Global |
| Payment processor (when billing is live) | Subscription payments | Per provider |
| Pose-estimation host (when Gait Analysis is enabled with a real model) | Compute keypoints from video | Per provider |
Some providers are outside the UK/EEA. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g. UK adequacy/International Data Transfer Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses).
We may also disclose data if required by law, to protect our rights, or as part of a business transfer (e.g. merger or acquisition).
6. How long we keep your data
- We keep your account and logged data while your account is active.
- Stride uses soft deletion — when you delete a horse or record, it is immediately hidden from the app and excluded from processing, then permanently removed from active systems within 30 days.
- If you delete your account, your personal data is removed from active systems promptly and deleted or anonymised within 30 days. We keep encrypted daily backups for disaster recovery on a rolling 7-day retention, so any residual copies of your data in those backups are overwritten within 7 days of deletion. We retain limited data longer only where required by law (e.g. tax or accounting records).
- You can also ask us to delete specific items — including uploaded photos, video clips and your AI interaction history — without closing your account (see Section 8).
7. How we protect your data
- All access is protected by row-level security, so each user can only access their own data.
- Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest by our hosting provider.
- API keys and secrets are kept server-side and never shipped in the app.
- No method is 100% secure, but we take reasonable, industry-standard measures.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to: access your data; have it corrected; have it erased; restrict or object to processing; data portability; and withdraw consent. You also have the right to complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk) — though we’d appreciate the chance to help first.
AI and upload controls. You can also ask us to delete specific items you have provided — including uploaded photos and video clips, and your AI interaction history (HorseGPT / Coach questions and Vision / Gait submissions) — without deleting your whole account.
To exercise any right, email support@strideapp.co.uk. We may need to verify your identity, and we’ll respond within the legal timeframe (normally one month).
9. Children
Stride is not directed at children. You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country) to create an account. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll update the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice (e.g. in-app or by email).
